The story so far

Crowds started to follow Jesus, eager to hear what he had to say. They brought lots of sick people to Jesus so that he could heal them. Jesus picked 12 men to be his special helpers, called ‘disciples’. They learned from Jesus and helped to spread his message about the Kingdom of God and what it is like.

Jesus had already shown that he could do amazing things, but no one was prepared for what he did next! Even his disciples couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Read the passage below to find out what amazed the disciples so much.

What do I read

Mark 4:35–41

What do I think say or create

Imagine you are a disciple in the boat.

  • What words would you use to describe how you might feel when the storm came? Draw a boat in a storm and write your words in the rough water around it.
  • What words would you use to describe how you might feel when Jesus made the storm stop? Turn over your piece of paper, draw a boat in calm water and write your words in the water.
  • No ordinary human could make the wind still and the waves calm. What do you think Jesus showed his disciples by calming the storm? I wonder what words you could you use to describe Jesus. Add Jesus into your calm boat and add your words around him.
