The story so far

In the last chapters of Revelation we read about the final defeat of evil, and the victory of God that lasts forever and ever.

In the beginning God made everything, and it was good, we read about this at the beginning of the Bible in Genesis. We read in the final sections of Revelation that in the end God will again make everything good. In fact, he will make it new. He is the ‘Alpha and Omega’ which means the beginning and the end, the start and the finish or the first and the last.

What do I read

Revelation 22:6–13

What do I think say or create

Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, a language which the book of Revelation was written in. These words mean that Jesus is the beginning and the end. He was there right at the beginning – at the creation of the world – and he will be there when it comes to an end. Everything we are and do depends on him. Here is an activity for you to do with your family or friends from church.

On a sheet of paper, write the letters of your alphabet down the left-hand side of the page.
Together, write down a word for each letter. What kind of words did you chose? Were they animals, people, emotions or things? Maybe you picked some of each. You might like to add some other words or pictures that show parts of God’s creation.
At the top and bottom of the page write ‘God’, so that you can remember that he is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end – in charge for ever and ever.
