Digital Communications

The Salvation Army ISJC is seeking an individual with a passion for social justed and the skills to provide support to our digital communications manager. The main purpose of the internship is to provide opportunity for learning about the Biblical foundation for social justice, spiritual formation practices, and UN Forums. The intern will work with our team on the ISJC website, annual social media campaign, and provide design and technical support to its 2022 and 2023 initiatives.

Main duties and responsibilities include

  1. Participate as part of the ISJC team in focused learning about the Biblical foundation for social justice
  2. Be mentored in weekly sessions for spiritual formation practice and reflection
  3. Attend assigned UN Sub-Committee meetings and other UN forums for learning and sharing of Salvation Army experience
  4. Create digital content for social media posts and website
  5. Post on all social media platforms on behalf of the ISJC
  6. Meet regularly with the Digital Communications Manager for reflection and input on direction for work related area of focus
  7. Assist in executing the social media campaign for the 2022 year as well as be part of the development of the campaign for the 2023 year.
  8. Work closely with the Research and Resource Development intern as it relates to social media post content
  9. Work closely with website developer to keep site update and ensure that links are available for connection from all social media posts to the appropriate web page.
  10. Support ISJC staff as required 
  11. Attend regular team meetings

Requirements

  • Completed bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with social media campaigns
  • Experience posting on FB, Instagram and Twitter
  • Computer skills in Microsoft, Google programs, and PowerPoint
  • Skills working with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Skills working with Canva, Planable, Facebook & Instagram Live, Streamyard, and Riverside
  • HTML coding, video editing (iMovie) -  a plus but not required
  • Design experience and an ability to communicate message visually
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work flexible hours given the nature of international work
  • Experience with remote work a plus
  • Excellent communications skills and experience working with a team
