Impact of Covid-19 on Decent Work & Economic Growth

COVID-19 & Justice

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth aims to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all. Many of today's global injustices are rooted in unequal access to fair, inclusive employment and economic development. This injustice forces many into unsafe jobs that prohibit growth and safety, such as trafficking, criminal activity, illegal trade and forced labour. SDG 8 aims to improve economic growth, increase job creation, eradicate trafficking, and protect labour rights.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a historic recession in which the poorest have been the most heavily impacted. With record levels of deprivation and unemployment, individuals and families go without income and essential resources. Those in informal employment and tourism have been among those to experience severe loss during the pandemic.
