The Salvation Army International Headquarters (IHQ) Photography Competition

Equipped for works of service in fields ripe for harvest. (Ephesians 4:12, John 4:35)

Equip photo competitionTo celebrate the launch of Equip, the new online learning platform for The Salvation Army, IHQ is running an international photography competition.

What does it look like to be equipped for service? How do fields ripe for harvest look?

Send us a photo or photos which capture either one or both of our chosen themes, namely:

  • a Salvation Army space/place where the active mission of Christ exists
  • an area of open land used for, or yielding, a crop.

The best photos, as judged and chosen by members of the Equip Advisory Team, Programme Resources Department, IHQ, shall be announced in May 2024.

Submit your entry, along with a completed application form, by no later than midnight on Thursday 16 May 2024.

  • The competition is administered by the Programme Resources Department, The Salvation Army International Trustee Company/The Salvation Army International Headquarters, 101 Queen Victoria Street, London EC4V 4EH, United Kingdom (‘IHQ’).
  • All entries must be submitted, as described above, by no later than midnight on Thursday 16 May 2024.
  • Contestants are limited to two photo submissions each (one photo per theme).
  • The competition is open to anyone aged 18 or over, located anywhere in the world.
  • The photo(s) must be taken by and fully owned by the contestant. By entering the competition, contestants agree to fully assign all intellectual property, moral and other rights in the photo(s) to IHQ.
  • The photos will be judged anonymously by members of the Equip Advisory Team, in order to eliminate bias.
  • All decisions of the Equip Advisory team are final with respect to all aspects of the competition.
  • Completed release forms for any person(s) appearing in the photos must be submitted with photo entries (release form can be accessed below).
  • Digital photo files should be a maximum size of 5MB and submitted in JPEG OR PNG format.
  • There will be one winner chosen per theme, therefore two competition winners overall.
  • Each winner will receive the below set of prizes:
    • Winning photo(s) featured on the IHQ Equip web page;
    • Subscription to the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (‘SPCK’) digital library (worth £60) OR a £60 Salvation Army Supplies and Purchasing/Trade Department voucher (contestant’s choice). Where the winning contestant chooses a voucher, they will be responsible for any shipping costs associated with the purchase of items using the voucher.
  • Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable or convertible to cash or any other alternative.
  • Should a winner refuse a prize, IHQ shall be released from any obligation related to the prize and the prize will be forfeited.
  • Winners will be notified by phone and/or email by no later than 30 May 2024 and will need to acknowledge their win/accept their prizes within two weeks of receiving notification.
  • IHQ retains the right to make substitutions of equivalent kind or value in the event of the unavailability of any element of any prize for any reason whatsoever.
  • IHQ accepts no responsibility for the failure or malfunction of any hardware, software or telecommunication component relating to online competition entries.
  • IHQ has the right to terminate or suspend the competition or to modify the competition terms and conditions at any time, without notice, for any reason whatsoever.
