Education Department

Leadership and Structure:

The Education Department is led by the Education Secretary, who reports to the Secretary for Programme. Our focus remains on providing oversight for all Salvation Army-sponsored schools and nursery schools in residential homes and Corps community centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring School Operations: We actively monitor the proper functioning of our schools and encourage Christian teachings in sponsored schools.
Monitoring the work of Divisional and District Officers.
- Management Proposals: The department proposes appointments for Principals and Head Teachers within our sponsored schools and collaborates with the Ministry of Education on matters relating to both regular and special schools.
- Board Membership: We also recommend members for the Boards of Management of all schools, ensuring strong governance.
- Advisory Support: Our team advises leadership on various educational matters, facilitating informed decision-making.
 

Recent Achievements

- Data Updates: Comprehensive data regarding all Salvation Army-sponsored schools has been successfully updated.
- Professional Network: We have developed a database of Salvationists who are part of the teaching profession to better support our educators.
- Formation of TSATA: The Salvation Army Teachers’ Association (TSATA) has been established to foster a sense of community among teachers.
- Community Engagement: Our schools have actively contributed to Self-Denial and Harvest Festival Appeals, demonstrating our commitment to community service.
