OUR TERRITORY

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Our message is based on the Bible. Our ministry is motivated by love for God. Our mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in his name without discrimination. The movement, founded in 1865 by William Booth, has spread from England to many parts of the world, helping countless people in over 120 countries.

The Salvation Army Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar Territory was established on 1 March 2005 to serve those in need to the best of our abilities. The work in each country commenced much earlier, with Myanmar in 1915, Singapore in 1935 and Malaysia in 1938.

ABOUT US

The work of The Salvation Army commenced in Burma in 1915 under the administration of India. Thirteen years later, it became a separate command. Despite restrictions on the entry of officers and lay workers from overseas, Myanmar Salvationists continued to develop our services in the nation, particularly in Upper Myanmar.

Throughout the years, we have established a network of social services to meet a range of needs in our community. Our programmes reach out to children who require care, communities living in the rural villages and other needy segments in our society. Our spiritual ministry also reaches out to people and provides counsel to those in the region.
