The World AIDS Day is observed on December 1 every year. The Salvation Army Emery Hospital joins with the whole world to observe this day to support and help the needy people living with HIV. There were various programs arranged under the leadership of Major Andrews D. Christian, Administrator to observe the day.
The awareness rally was arranged to bring awareness among the people regarding HIV. Commissioner Edwin Masih, Territorial Commander of IWT flagged off the rally with prayer. Commissioner Sumita Masih – TPWM, cabinet secretaries, DHQ staff, all institutional heads with their staff, students of the Salvation Army English medium and Gujarati medium schools, cadets, retired officers joined with Emery staff. The principal and the students of B. Ed. College run by the Christian Service Society, the people living with HIV who are the members of Anand NP+ (NGO) also participated in the rally. The rally passed over the streets of Anand including railway station, old bus station, church road, municipal hospital, police station, vegetable market and concluded in the hospital in the form of a meeting. The Territorial Commander addressed the participants. Administrator gave vote of thanks for their participation. The world renowned Amul Dairy sponsored flavored milk for participants. There were nearly 550 participants in the rally.
On this special day, the support group meeting of people living with HIV was also held under the guidance of Administrator. There were 136 PLHIVs and children living with HIV in the meeting. Commissioner Edwin Masih, Territorial Commander addressed these clients and encouraged them to live a healthy life. The Territorial Leaders with hospital staff distributed green gram as nutritional support to these clients.
