// 02 MAY 2025 //

Commissioner Mani Kumari Dasari is a Salvation Army officer (minister) from India. She currently serves at International Headquarters in London, England, and holds responsibilities that oversee Salvation Army ministry to women and girls across South Asia.

The Salvation Army International has launched Women Who Hope an exhibition on the event of International Women's Day 2025 in Gallery 101 at its headquarters in central London, United Kingdom. The exhibition tells the story of women of The Salvation Army from around the world who have experienced hope that has uplifted their lives and helped to empower them to inspire hope in others.

At the launch, Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham, World President of Women's Ministries, said it was an honour to read the personal stories within the exhibition. She added: 'Women Who Hope reflects the big, bold and hope-filled vision of Women's Ministries: to see women transformed and empowered by the life-changing message of Jesus.’

The deepest root of womanhood is hope in God. The deepest root of Christian womanhood. That's where we start defining Christian womanhood. Hope in God. “Holy women who hope in God used to adorn themselves a certain way.” A Christian woman does not put her hope in her husband, in her profession, eve on her children or someone.

Sarah a woman of Hope: Sarah hoped in God and by faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. She looked away from herself and her barrenness and her age and banked on God for the fulfilment of his promise that she would have a child and be the mother of many nations. (Genesis 18: 12-15).  She gives God the glory for the child. The Lord restored Sarah's faith and caused her to hope in God. So women who hope in God are women who look away from the troubles and miseries and obstacles of life that seem to make the future bleak, and they focus their attention on the sovereign power and love of God who rules in heaven.

Lydia a woman of Hope: Lydia a woman of Phillipe and she is an incredible woman. She is from the city of Thyatira and a strong woman in the business. She inherited the business from the family and trained. Lydia has been a “God-Fearer” and encouraged by her handling of adversity, and confidence that God was with her, looking out for her.  The Lord opened her heart to pay the attention to God's word.  She had a confidence in her faith and providing needed assistance to the servants of God just at the right moment. (Acts 14: 11-15).

Jochebed a Woman of Hope: Jochebed has been seen as an example of a mother's love and hope. She cared more about her baby boy and doing the right thing than she feared for her own life. At the time of Moses was born, King found Israelites were growing in number and he came up with a truly evil command: Any newborn little boy of a Hebrew woman had to be killed at birth.  When mother saw the child was beautiful, she hides him 3 months. “When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the riverbank (Exodus 2:3)

Jochebed as a symbol of inspiration to every mother who face the big challenge fearlessly, to not be swept up in the way of the world, to trust in God's bigger plan. Jochebed got to care for her own child, with the protection of the Pharaoh's daughter.

As a mother, Jochebed chose life for her son over death and hope over despair. she chose God's plan for her children above even her own desires, giving her the strength to do the most difficult thing a mother could do for her son. She surrendered Moses to God's power, protection, provision, and plan, Jochebed played an integral role in God's plan for her family and the nation.
