MY EXPERIENCE IN ISJC OFFICER CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME IN NEW YORK, USA

// 20 FEBRUARY 2020 //

I would like to give my sincere thanks to God Almighty as well as my territorial leaders Colonel Daniel Raju Dasari, Territorial Commander, Colonel Baby Sarojini, Territorial President of Women Ministry, Lieutenant Colonel J. Daniel J. Raj, Chief Secretary, and Lieutenant Colonel Rajam Daniel, TSWM who have chosen me to be the part of ISJC and to develop all the skills in all the aspects of my life to seek Justice together.

The International Social Justice Commission is The Salvation Army's strategic voice advocating for human dignity, human rights and social justice in all parts of the world. The ISJC, with IMASIC, exercises leadership in determining The Salvation Army's policies and practices in the international social justice arena. The ISJC works closely with those who have a track record of seeking God's justice for the world in order to learn from them, distill experience and sharing lessons with others. The three primary goals of ISJC   are: ( 1) increase passion for justice in the salvation army family, (2) inspire leaders to seek justice, (3) influence global partners for God's justice.

I am very much thankful to Colonel Richard Munn, Colonel Janet Munn, Major Victoria Edmonds, and Dr. Laurelle who have molded, equipped and transformed me spiritually, technologically, academically and they put their full potential to make me a better servant leader. I spent three months in New York. During my stay in New York, I explored the new places by sightseeing, learned about the diverse culture, known diverse food habit and learned how to practice justice in all aspects of my life. Officer capacity building programme has equipped me to address the social justice issues and to be the voice of unheard, downtrodden, Dalits and marginalized.  Colonel Richard Munn, Colonel Janet Munn and their entire team have provided great hospitality to me during my stay and by providing hospitality they really reflected the image of God.

Colonel Janet Munn mentored me in Personal Spiritual Development and to have healthy conversations and contemplation we followed the book, “Strengthening the Soul of your Leadership”. As Jesus said in Matthew 16:26, “And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?”Based on this verse Colonel Janet has deeply rooted me in spiritual discernment through the regular session of spiritual transformation. I have been taught that when we are in a leadership position, to serve our people like a servant we need to discern the will of God before we do any work or take action on it for the welfare of our people cooperatively. Laurelle Smith has always mentored me in my research project and with her guidance, I was able to accomplish my research project. The Theme of my Research project is “Bringing Kingdom of God by empowering the women of India Northern Territory”.   Major Victoria Edmonds has always equipped and encouraged me physically and emotionally through the way she works and represents Salvation Army in the UN. It was a great privilege for me to visit and share my testimony in various corps of the Eastern Territory of the USA, I also visited the United Nations to have a global view of Justice.

I would like to request all the readers of War Cry kindly remember me in your personal prayers that whatever I have learned from the International Social Justice Commission I may be able to implement in my ministry to serve the suffering humanity.

Major Anugraha M. Masih, Secretary to TPWM, India Northern Territory
