I praise God for given good weather in the rainy season to conduct a Territorial level Cricket Tournament held on the 5th & 6th November 2021 at The Salvation Army School Higher Secondary School playground, Nagercoil to achieve the goal of transforming the lives of young people. This is the second Territorial level tournament, and ten divisional-level teams have participated in this event from the entire territory. The very first tournament is volleyball which was held on 21st September 2019.
The match has started with a new flagstaff dedication and was hoisted by Commissioner Mani Kumari, TPWM which was sponsored by the ISET sports ministry. During the inaugural function all the divisional commanders, officers, players, and territorial leaders have participated. Following this; our territorial leaders planted coconut trees on the ground on campus.
Territorial Sports Coordinator M. Packiaraj welcomed the Territorial leaders, Divisional leaders, Players, and Audience. Lt. Colonel R. Aruldhas, Programme Secretary leads the inaugural session, and Mr. Balaji, District Coordinator for the Ministry of Youth & Sports participated as a chief guest. After that, the Territorial Leaders received the salute from the players in an open Jeep. One of the Team Captains Mr. Sudhar holds the Olympic torch and ran in front of the Jeep.
After the inaugural function league matches started with a prayer by Lt. Colonel Davidson Varghese, Chief Secretary. There is a man of the match award in every single league match, and end of the tournament Marthandam Division won the 1st Prize, the Vallioor Division 2nd and Azhagiapandiapuram Division got 3rd prize.
During the closing session Commissioner John Kumar Dasari, Territorial Commander delivered a motivational speech and distributed the cash awards, Trophy for winning Teams, Mementos for match umpires, All DYS, TYS & other stakeholders. Captain Viji, TYS coordinates the prize distribution function. Mr. Veeramoney, PRO arranged the chief guest, press, and police protection. The outcome of this tournament is that all the divisional youngsters witnessed Christ and shared their love with each other making a good rapport.
