The three days Training on Child Protection was organised by the social wing of India National Secretariat, Kolkata during 16th-19th May 2017 at Christian Retreat Centre, Coonoor. We hoped this training to be an important milestone for the Army's ministry amongst the children in India. The training has specialities which includes Commissioners Lalzamlova & Nemkhanching (Nu-i), International Secretary & ZSWM, South Asia, Mrs. Jane Dodds, International Director for child protection, IHQ. The very first time resource persons came together, shared the same topic and platform with much love and concerns for the children and the Army's position in child protection. The Social Secretary also shared the important lessons on the child protection.
They shared subjects not just from their knowledge, but from the heart, which understood where the Army and the World stands on Child Protection. How it could be applied in the Salvation Army Residential Homes, Corps, Sunday School and Educational Institutions. The strong message from ZSWM based on Matthew 19:14 on love and concerns once again reminded the delegates that we could intentionally or unintentionally ignore or draw the children near or far from us. The message of ZSWM was imprinted in the hearts of the delegates.
The topics during the training were carefully selected with the intention that 'how it could be most effective when applied at work place'? The training was covered with power point presentations, group discussions, sharing of experiences and challenges, etc. We hoped that each delegate will be able to make use of the knowledge gained during the training.

Presentation from the main resource person, Mrs. Jane Dodds, International Director (though having cough and colds) was strong, clear and delivered in a way the delegates could catch up. Group sessions/work, sharing of ideas was lively and practical. We thank God and the international and national leaders for equipping and renewing The Salvation Army spirit in India to fiercer tasks ahead.
