COVID-19 RELIEF PROGRAMMES IN INDIA NORTHERN TERRITORY

// 07 JUNE 2020 //

The entire world is under the clutches of the global crisis Corona.  As our whole country is lockdown due to this pandemic, so many daily workers, housemaids, migrant Laborers, street hawkers, small scale businessmen, and women have lost they're literally being pushed to the streets.

We are very much thankful to our Territorial Leaders who came forward and extended their helping hand towards suffering humanity. Territorial Headquarters made plans to support every area of the Territory,( New Delhi, Amritsar, Angul, Batala, Bareilly, Chandigarh, Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Moradabad, Mukerian, West Bengal, Jasidih, Pathankot, Ferozepur, Bajpur Uttarakhand, Patiala, Tran Taran, Port Blair, Jammu, and Kashmir) through our Division/ District/Extension to help the people during the lockdown. Hot cooked meals, water bottles, sanitizers, masks, pamphlets of awareness of Covid-19, grocery, and essential provisions have been provided to these people with the help of The Salvation Army International Headquarters. Many people were benefitted through this distribution during this time of crisis.

Having seen this humanitarian act, so many soldiers, officers, and local community people came forward to help these people in their needs. With the permission of Local Government and local administrations, the hot cooked meal has been distributed in the Hospitals, Slum areas, and to the people living under the bridges, to the labors caught at construction sites.

Teams have been formed to carry on the relief at Divisional, Institutions, and Territorial Level; these teams made strategies and found the most needed areas to distribute hot meals and essential provisions whoever needing. All the Division, District, and Extension of our Territory got help from THQ to serve these people in their area.

An interesting case is witnessed in Delhi, where our THQ team received phone calls from migrant laborers, which were caught at the construction site at Gautam Nagar, New Delhi. They told that they had no food for two days. The authorities requested the Salvation Army to help them by providing food. Immediately, under the Territorial Leadership, the team went there and helped them. Those migrant laborers were grateful to God as well as the Salvation Army. We are very much thankful to our government police who have provided their services earnestly along with us when we were rendering our services to the suffering humanity.

We are very much thankful to our Territorial Commander Colonel Daniel Raju Dasari and Colonel Baby Sarojini TPWM and the entire team for the valuable support to render our relief activities.
