Week 1
Week 1
On April 13, 2011, Twenty-six Salvation Army officers journeyed to the ICO from 16 countries. From our first hours together, God began blessing this 209th Session - "The Resurrection Session" with unity of heart and spirit. We have left home, family and work behind for 8 weeks to be "set-aside" for whatever purpose God ordains.
Our theme verse: Romans 3:5 "For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his."
Welcome Meeting
Our week began in earnest with the welcome dinner with the Chief of the Staff and Commissioner Sue Swanson as well as the Zonal Secretaries and Under Secretaries from International Headquarters.

Tour of London and Visit to the Wesley Chapel
For many delegates to the ICO, this is a first trip to London. Taking a walking tour of Central London not only allowed us to take advantage of the beautiful weather London is enjoying right now, but also helped us to bond as a group of friends and fellow Christ-followers.

The visit to John Wesley's home and Chapel followed an informative and inspiring lecture by Major Peter Forrest on our Wesleyan heritage.
Meaningful Worship
From the beginning of this session, we have been blessed beyond measure by the preaching and teaching ministry of the ICO staff. We have been challenged to keep our "oil lamp" filled with the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. We have been encouraged to be the "voice of one crying in the wilderness". And we have been at prayer; for each other, our family and work, for our Leaders, for our global Army. We enter Holy Week with open minds and hearts, ready to receive from the Spirit.
