Tropical storm Faida caused significant devastation on the east coast of Madagascar in February 2025. Heavy rains and strong winds led to severe flooding, displacing more than 2,000 people. A mudslide resulted in the tragic loss of three lives and many homes were washed away, leaving people in dire situations and requiring urgent assistance.

The government of Madagascar, along with the Red Cross, set up temporary shelters to house those displaced. However, the need for food and other essential supplies remained critical.

The Salvation Army provided food items, sanitation supplies, hygiene products and blankets to camps in Mahamasina, Anosizato, Ensemble, Anosimahavelona and Amapefiloha, where more than 1,000 households are being sheltered.

Other areas of support will continue to be identified.
