BECAUSE of damage to a glass panel above the main entrance to The Salvation Army's International Headquarters (IHQ) the building has been withdrawn from Open House London, which takes place this weekend (17-18 September).
Colonel Annette Gower, IHQ Chaplain and City of London Liaison Officer, says she is disappointed that IHQ will miss out this year on an opportunity to tell 'the story of our building and the motivation behind it' but explains that the area around the entrance will be 'closed entirely over the weekend in order for scaffolding to be put in place to effect a repair'.
This would have been the third time that IHQ took part in Open House London, a free event celebrating London's architecture. In 2010 more than 1,200 people visited the building, with 500 participating in guided tours.
