The First National 'Training on Sports Ministry' was commenced on 19th June at Conference Centre Coonoor. In the Inaugural Session Lieut. Colonel Daniel Raju Dasari, National Secretary shared the vision and concerns of Sports Ministry of The Salvation Army. In order to encourage, train and introduce the systematic Sports Ministry the training was arranged from 19 to 23 June 2018. 23 delegates from 6 Indian Territories were attended and received the training. National Secretariat arranged excellent and most suitable and renowned resource persons for this training. Mr. Paul Moses, Director of Christian Sports Fellowship, Chennai.
He was former Ranji Cricketer of Tamil Nadu and having more than 25 years experience in Sports Ministry. He was the main resource person and Mr. Anand Jones, Mr. Antony from Coimbatore also joined with him as a team. They were with us 2 days and gave an excellent training. The subjects were most suitable, relevant and based on Bible. In between we have watched motivational videos an added inspiration. The sessions were interactive and most practical. Indoor and outdoor games also included during the sessions.
The enjoyable and health practice we had every day is group physical exercise. Captain D. Vijaykumar (liaison officer) Officer of India Central led us every day morning 6 to 7 physical exercises. It helped us to make our self fit and healthy. Lieut. Colonel Daniel Raju Dasari, National Secretary took few sessions which give more understanding about the aims, objectives of The Sports Ministry in The Salvation Army. Under his guidance we discussed the present situations and opportunities to encourage children and youth through sports. We prepared recommendation for the future development of the sports ministry in India.
We also had an opportunity to listen the sports ministry reports of each territory. By listening and watching the photographs inspired us. Visiting a half day to the beautiful hill city of Ooty gave extra blessings. We had a fellowship night where we presented various skits, dances, songs in order to Praise God. On 23rd June Final day morning an inspirational devotion led by Major P. Nathan, Administrator based on 1 Samuel 10:9. Final session was led by Lieut. Colonel Daniel Raju Dasari many delegates shared their experience. A token of appreciation, Certificates were presented to all the delegates. Commissioner Naomi gave a heart touching and inspirational message of submitting ourselves to God. All the delegates re-dedicated themselves to God.
