TRAINING FOR EVANGELIST TEACHERS, INDIA EASTERN TERRITORY

The Salvation Army Western Division, India Eastern Territory has organised a 3 day Training on Teaching for Evangelist Teachers at District Institute of Education and Training, Kolasib District (DIET) during 6 to 8 February 2018 under the patronised leadership of Mr. C. Vanlalmawia, Principal DIET. 52 evangelist teachers including 3 mothers with 3 babies serving at the outreach and mission field areas located in the states of Manipur and Assam (within the areas of Western Division) attended this training. The Kolasib Board under the Chairmanship of Mr. Lalthaliana, Recruiting Sergeant has taken care of accommodation, catering and other requisite amenities for the delegates.


This training programme was opened by Divisional Commander of Western Division. 13 subjects based on National Curriculum Framework, Importance of Psychology & Motivation, Skills of Teaching, Importance of Co-curricular activity, Teaching of Language, Teaching of Social Science, Teaching of Science, Teaching of Mathematics, Importance of Teaching & Learning Materials, Early Childhood Care & Education, Aims of Education, Question Settings & Evaluation and Problem Sharing were lectured by 11 DIET lecturers.


A small closing function was organised and the DIET Principal presented participation certificate to each delegate. Such kind of training for evangelist teachers was conducted first time for the Western Division and so many positive feedbacks came from delegates.


The public closing meeting was held at Kolasib Corps on 8th February 2018 with variety of programmes and sharing. One of the delegates shared that she is working as Evangelist Teacher for about 12 years without any external qualification. “I am very happy to attend this training programme because I learnt the skills on teaching, how to care pupils/children and what the role of a teacher is.”


My humble and sincere appreciation to Mr. C. Vanlalmawia for providing facilities such as teaching materials, refreshments and other resources for this training. The worthwhile congruent lectures by faculty members and support of entire non teaching staff brought to a grand success for the training. We are very grateful to Major Lalsawmliana, Commanding Officer, local officers and the soldiers of Kolasib Corps for hosting this training.
