The Lord is Jesus

The New Testament affirms that Jesus Christ is Lord of heaven and earth. In him the Word of God which creates and rules the world became incarnate and God himself, the Creator and Lord of heaven and earth, is revealed in him. In announcing the arrival of the ‘kingdom of God’, Jesus declared that the new and final order of history had come and at the same time was ‘not yet’. His kingdom and Lordship then is eschatological in nature – inclusive of both present reality and future. He is Lord by virtue of his passing through suffering and death to his resurrection and exaltation and in the distant future He will be Lord at the final judgement of the world with every knee bowing and “every tongue confessing that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father”...
