Salvation Army Flood Relief Effort in Pakistan Reaches Thousands of People (Update 22 September)

The Salvation Army in Pakistan continues to provide aid to thousands of people affected by floods that have swept across the country

THE Salvation Army in Pakistan continues to provide aid to thousands of people affected by floods that have swept across the country, with plans in place to help many more. Distributions are taking place in several areas.

In the north-west, 2,407 families have been provided with bedding and cooking utensils. In South Punjab, similar items were distributed to 1,582 families and a further 82 families were provided with tents.

In Sindh the floods are continuing and families are still making their way to relief camps. At this point, 300 families have been provided with bedding and cooking packs. A total of 350 tents have been distributed in the region.

If the current plans are able to be seen through, more than 6,000 sets of cooking and bedding packs will be given out in the next week or two, with almost 2,000 more tents expected to be distributed.

Salvation Army teams have received a warm welcome from communities and local government representatives. One Member of the Provincial Assembly was so impressed with the work he saw that he made a donation of 10,000 rupees.
