International Communications SummitSALVATION Army representatives from around the world are gathering at William Booth College in London for an International Communications Summit. The event, which takes place from 4-6 February 2014, reflects the promise of International Headquarters (IHQ) Communications to 'unite the Salvation Army world through global communication platforms’.

In his welcome message to delegates General André Cox says: 'The global nature of today's communication means that, more than ever, it is vital that an international organisation such as The Salvation Army is able to respond quickly and with a united voice to crises and opportunities across the globe.'

Delegates attending the International Communications Summit come from IHQ, Africa, Australia, Canada, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States. 'There is no such thing as a local issue any more,' says Commissioner Gerrit Marseille, International Secretary for Programme Resources. 'I believe The Salvation Army will be stronger from a global communications perspective as a result of the summit.'

Major John P. Murray, IHQ Communications Secretary and Literary Secretary, agrees with the commissioner, adding: 'Communications is an ever-changing medium.' He continues: 'The chance to meet with colleagues from around the world is vital as we seek to mitigate brand and issues management challenges. I am grateful to all delegates for their partnership in mission and willingness to invest this time in enhancing the global profile of The Salvation Army.'
