The visit of the Chief of the Staff (Commissioner Edward Hill) and World Secretary for Women’s Ministries (Commissioner Shelley Hill) to The Salvation Army’s Korea Territory on 14-18 April was marked by profound and uplifting moments during a series of meetings.
In the Sunday holiness meeting at Yeongdeungpo Corps (church), more than 200 Salvationists were engaged through the profound spiritual messages delivered.
Commissioner Shelley Hill shared insights from her spiritual journey, acknowledging life’s fluctuations while highlighting God’s constant guidance and grace, steadfastly believing in his unwavering guidance in our daily endeavours.
The Chief of the Staff’s Bible message, ‘Christ, my Pilot’, was based on Psalm 25:4-10, emphasising the crucial role of Jesus Christ as the ultimate guide in our spiritual journey, enabling us to follow his teachings and navigate life’s challenges. Commissioner Hill’s message encouraged the congregation to engage in reflection and to reaffirm their faith.

Significant meaning
The following two-day Territorial Women’s Rally – themed ‘Let Your Life Flourish!’ – took place at the Baekhwasan Retreat Centre, where more than 830 Salvationists participated. During the opening worship, Commissioner Shelley Hill delivered a message titled ‘Live Through Him – Following Jesus’. She also spoke about international Women’s Ministries, urging her listeners to trust in God’s work.
The commissioners shared God’s grace throughout the rally, enabling spirits to be uplifted through heartfelt praise and worship. Various programmes, including a ‘Conversational Concert’ and a skit drama were meticulously planned and performed. This marked the first occurrence of the rally in nine years, adding significant meaning to the occasion. Each moment was filled with grace, challenge and profound inspiration, bringing immense joy to all in attendance.
Prayer for the territory
The first of two days allocated to the United Officers’ Councils covered five of the territory’s seven divisions and took place at Cheonan Corps with more than 270 participants, whilst councils for the other two divisions were held the next day at Kwacheon Corps with more than 200 participants.
During these councils, a time of fervent prayer was held for The Salvation Army throughout the territory. The Chief of the Staff delivered a presentation on ‘The Salvation Army’s Current Affairs’, providing an overview of the structure of International Headquarters, current and future priorities, expectations of leaders and reasons to celebrate.
In his Bible message titled ‘Six Best Places to Be’, Commissioner Hill emphasised the importance of dwelling in God’s presence for safety, teaching, help, fellowship, rest and refreshment. The time spent by officers in councils provided comfort, peace and opportunity for rededication, enabling them to foster closer fellowship with the Lord.
