President's Blog: Easter 2016
From the Desk of the WPWM
What a joy it is to celebrate Easter once again!
Here in London the shops have been reminding us for a long time that Easter is coming, with an enormous variety of chocolate eggs and rabbits on the shelves. The children are getting excited and are looking forward to the day, hoping to receive some chocolate and to find as many eggs as possible. As we walk to work, I see on an advertising board: ‘Become a sweet detective and sign up to our annual London Bridge City Family Easter Hunt.’
As Christian women, I encourage you to do your part so the real meaning of Easter is not lost. On Easter Day we celebrate the fact that Jesus did not stay in the grave but rose again. Jesus has conquered death; Jesus is alive today! We believe that Jesus died for our sins and that by his death and resurrection we are saved.
To be certain of the resurrection of Jesus is important as it is at the centre of our faith. The apostle Paul said: ‘And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith’ (1 Corinthians 15:14 NIV).
Let us then rejoice in our faith and proclaim that he is alive. We have the assurance of our forgiveness and the fact that one day we will live with him eternally. This is a good reason to celebrate and be joyful!
