Women's Ministries in Papua New Guinea
One Divisional Director for Women’s Ministries has begun a ministry to officers’ children. As many Salvation Army officers in the territory are appointed to isolated locations, their children also have to make sacrifices. With education, food and clothes being scarce commodities, some officers’ children understandably develop negative feelings towards officership. This new ministry is intended to value the child and help them realise that they, too, are important.
Meanwhile, Major Ridia Nenewa at the House of Hope is growing a vibrant women's ministry among families who come for help in relation to HIV/Aids and domestic violence. Her ministry can be seen in the story in the DVD used to promote Self Denial in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga. Ridia's gracious loving spirit attracts the women and is a real life example of God's love for them – lives are being transformed.
