International Women's Day Message

Commissioner Rosalie Peddle addresses women and girls around The Salvation Army world on International Women's Day.

Commissioner Rosalie Peddle, World President of Women's Ministries, shares a special message with women around the world in honour of International Women's Day:

'Some of my best men are women!'

Do you know who said this? It was said by our founder, William Booth, back in the early days of The Salvation Army. It is still true today! In each and every community that The Salvation Army touches, there are women working tirelessly to improve the lives of others by providing emotional, practical and spiritual support, bringing the life-changing message of the gospel to the whosoever.

Today is International Women’s Day, and I want to take this opportunity to celebrate women and girls everywhere! Proverbs 31:31 says, ‘Celebrate all she has achieved. Let all her accomplishments publicly praise her.

You know, we don’t always see our accomplishments for what they are. We can be hard on ourselves and forget to recognise and celebrate the fruits of our hard work. This past year, more than ever, I have watched in total admiration as women across our Army world have served selflessly and put the well-being of others before themselves.

So, let me take a moment to publicly recognise these incredible women today:
To the medical professionals and care givers enduring long shifts and challenging conditions – I see you.
To the business owners, and those who have faced financial stress and job insecurity – I see you.
To the women leading their communities, whether in classrooms or boardrooms – I see you.
To the students who have struggled with disrupted education – I see you.
To the mothers who have become at-home teachers – I see you.
To the grandparents who have waited patiently for precious cuddles – I see you.
To the women who are keeping on 'just keeping on' – I see you.
And to the women who have stood strong in the face of injustice this year – I see you.

Women and girls everywhere, I want to thank you for being you and for being who God created you to be. Today is your day. We see you and we thank God for you!
