The terrible tsunami disaster in South Asia is a tragedy for the whole human family. And just as members of a family rally round when tragedy strikes, so the world family is coming to the aid of those who have suffered. Salvationists, particularly, identify themselves with all who suffer loss, so in these tragic circumstances we commit ourselves to do all we can to help alleviate suffering and give practical help.
As soon as news of the current disaster was received, the Emergency Services at International Headquarters swung into action, as did Salvationists in most of the countries which suffered devastation.
I call on all readers of this message to pray for those whose lives have so unexpectedly met with tragedy, and especially for those who have been bereaved. Pray also for all who are engaged in the relief ministry. Pray for the nations which have suffered, and pray for their leaders. I also call on those who can help practically to do so by offering financial support for the relief work. Donations can be made in a matter of minutes by clicking on the ‘donate’ button on this page.
May God, our Heavenly Father, sustain in a special way those of his family who have been stricken.
