August 2012

Edition 14

Dear Friends,

This month Major Margaret Marti, Coordinator of Spiritual Life Development in the Norway, Iceland, and the Faeroes Territory, shares an article about taking our spiritual parenthood seriously by mentoring and discipling believers of a younger generation.

The Salvation Army House of Prayer (SA-HOP) spotlighted this month is the Band of Survivors from the USA Central Territory, which is a youth mission and discipleship program.

Our featured event focuses on the USA Central Bible and Leadership Institute, which took place at Camp Wonderland from 27 July to 5 August. Our resource this month is a bible study called 'Pursuing Spiritual Formation' that is part of the USA Central Territory's Spiritual Life Formation Guide.

The International College for Soldiers starts next month! Have you visited the website yet? There you can read the profiles of all twenty-six delegates, meet the staff and guest lecturers, as well as get an outline of the ICS curriculum. Please continue to remember the event, delegates, and staff in your prayers over the upcoming weeks.

'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.' (Deuteronomy 6:4-6).

Fullness in Christ,

Lieut-Colonel Janet Munn

Dr. Roger Green, guest lecturer and bible teacher for ICS, says his desire for the impact of ICS will be that the Soldiers gain a renewed vision of the Kingdom of God: of what The Salvation Army's role and purpose is in the Kingdom, as well as a new understanding of their own citizenship in the Kingdom of God.
