Dias Place Corps on the march at their

        recent  75th corps anniversary.

Description

The Salvation Army commenced in Sri Lanka on 26 January 1883 under the leadership of Captain William Gladwin.

The Salvation Army is an evangelical church committed to social action. Without discrimination we work with the community for life enrichment. We are volunteers and professional people caring for the body, mind and soul. We are an international movement registered in Sri Lanka as a religious and charitable organization.

The Salvation Army was formed in England in 1865 by William Booth, who believed that an essential part of his ministry was to fight against poverty and social injustice. This remains true for The Salvation Army today.

The work of The Salvation Army is funded through donations from its members, the general public and where appropriate, local authority and government grants. It also receives funds from aid agencies.
