As survivors flocked the airport and piers in order to find refuge in their relatives and friends, The Army found another avenue of service by providing meals and counselling to departing and arriving passengers in Tacloban, Cebu and Villamor Airbase in Manila.

The survivors were greeted by hundreds of welcoming volunteers from different organizations like The Salvation Army. The demonstration of love and concern was overwhelming. After feeding the survivors, they were led to either the first aid or counselling areas.
