18 July 2013

Calling all people - including Salvationists - around the world to join in inspiring change and taking action by doing 67 minutes of service for your corps, community centre, or the place where you work or worship.

This would be a day of action in honour of Nelson Mandela on the celebration of his 94th birthday. The United Nations has called for 18 July to be Nelson Mandela International Day and we can all join in celebrating this day by doing some kind of service for others.

For 67 years Nelson Mandela devoted his life to the service of humanity - as a human rights lawyer, a prisoner of conscience, an international peacemaker and the first democratically elected president of a free South Africa.

If you would like to read more about this day and how it came about and other information about Nelson Mandela please visit www.un.org/en/events/mandeladay/takeaction.shtml

You can make a difference in this world if you are willing to inspire change and take action.
