RSS News Headlines
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way that you can get regularly updated headlines and news stories delivered automatically from a web site to a 'news reader' on your PC. If you do not wish to install a news reader, you can access RSS feeds in other ways: My Yahoo! users can add RSS feeds directly to their personal page, some may prefer to use a web-based news reader while those who use Firefox have RSS functions built into their browser.
Using an RSS feed is similar to podcasting, except that you receive text instead of rich media. There are many news readers to choose from, including several free ones. You should select the one that is best for your operating system and provides the features you need. Then you can set it up to receive RSS information from web sites – usually headlines that link to the information on the main web site.
The Salvation Army International web site provides an RSS feed of its news headlines, which is updated whenever a new item is published. It is not a feed of all the newly released material on The Salvation Army's international web site, but only those items that are included in its 'news' headlines. For example, the weekly 'Pause for Thought' and daily prayers, as well as articles and stories added in other parts of the web site, are not included in this particular feed.
There are a number of ways to add the International Salvation Army channel to your news reader:
- Drag the button or link into your news reader
- Click on the RSS button or link below, copy the URL from the address bar and paste it into your news reader or RSS application
- Right-click on the link and select 'Copy Shortcut'. Paste it into a new entry in your news reader.
- Copy the URL below and paste that into your news reader.
