In the United Kingdom, March is the month that Mother’s Day is celebrated. However, my mum waits to be celebrated at the time mums are honoured in Switzerland!
When I think about my mum my thoughts often turn to her reading from a well-used, worn out Bible. Eventually my mother needed to buy a new Bible as her old one became so full of underlined verses and notes. It had started to break. As you can imagine, she didn’t need to tell us to read the Bible, she taught us by example. We knew that the Bible for her truly was the Word of God. Mum needed his Word daily as it sustains her in her moments of joys and difficulties.
I have recently returned from a trip to Kenya and there I was addressed as ‘Our Mama’. What an incredible privilege and responsibility! It is my prayer that I too will remain rooted and grounded in the word of God.
