Live Webcast to Launch Worldwide Initiative

The Whole World Mobilising, seeks to encourage every Salvationist, officer, employee, advisory board member & volunteer to be active in sharing the gospel

THE Salvation Army’s international initiative for 2017, The Whole World Mobilising, seeks to encourage every Salvationist, officer, employee, advisory board member and volunteer to be active in sharing the gospel and participating in frontline service. Every territory, command and region will have the opportunity to be involved in significant outreach events to be held in towns and cities in all 128 countries in which there is an official Salvation Army presence.

The Whole World Mobilising gets underway with a special launch meeting at International Headquarters (IHQ) at 9am GMT on Thursday 12 January 2017, led by General André Cox and the Chief of the Staff (Commissioner Brian Peddle). This event will bring together contributions from around the world. Throughout the morning, IHQ officers and employees will be offering hot drinks and conversation to the many thousands of commuters and tourists that pass by the central London building.

But The Whole World Mobilising is not just about large-scale activities. Salvation Army corps (churches), social centres and individuals are being reminded that Jesus’ Great Commission ‘to make disciples’ applies to all Christians. In this regard, the Chief of the Staff has a message for everyone linked with The Salvation Army: ‘I encourage each and every one of you to do as our Founder William Booth encouraged … to “Do Something”.’

To this end, a new website and mobile app are being launched to provide practical tips, inspirational testimonies and regular challenges to everyone who is willing to answer the call to be mobilised by God. Bible readings and prayer pointers on the app and website will provide spiritual food for the duration of The Whole World Mobilising initiative. Participants will be invited to share details of their own mission activities – however large or small – including the outcomes of any meaningful conversations about the Christian faith or decisions for Christ.

Proceedings on 12 January will be broadcast live on the Whole World Mobilising website (www.salvationarmy.org/mobilising) and at sar.my/tv. The meeting will be available to watch again online immediately after the event.
