The General Holds Warm Meeting with Grand Imam from Lahore

General André Cox today hosted a visit from The Grand Imam Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, from the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore

GENERAL André Cox today hosted a visit from The Grand Imam Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, from the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan – the second-largest mosque in south Asia and fifth-largest in the world. The two faith leaders had met during the General's visit to Pakistan in 2014, when he had made an open invitation for the Grand Imam to visit him at International Headquarters (IHQ) the next time he was in London.

The General and the Grand Imam were joined in their meeting by the Chief of the Staff (Commissioner William A. Roberts), Commissioner William Cochrane (International Secretary to the Chief of the Staff), Commissioner Lalzamlova (International Secretary for South Asia) and Imam Khalid Hussain from Birmingham Central Mosque, who was accompanying the Grand Imam on his visit to the United Kingdom.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of warmth and mutual respect. The General spoke about the work of The Salvation Army in Pakistan and also gave the visitors an overview of its worldwide ministry.
