10 March 2016

THE International Headquarters (IHQ) family gathered on Thursday 3 March for a Spirit-filled celebration of the 2016 World Day of Prayer. The theme, prepared by women from Cuba, was 'Receive children. Receive me.'

The congregation shared a Cuban greeting, enjoyed joyful Cuban music and heard testimonies from Cuban children via video. Participants from around the world who currently serve at IHQ participated in the service, including Mexican officer Major Agripina Góchez (Under Secretary, Americas and Caribbean Zone), who gave the Bible message. This was given extra meaning because of the major's experience of serving in Cuba. Major Góchez encouraged the congregation members to reflect not only on how they receive children but also other people – especially the less privileged. She gave the challenge to love people without discrimination.

Prayer cards and names of officers and cadets from Cuba were given to all who attended. The cards were later collected by the IHQ chaplain (Major Tracey Kasuso), who will make arrangements for them to be delivered to Cuba.
