The Salvation Army’s international leaders General Lyndon Buckingham and Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham visited Staines Corps, United Kingdom and Ireland Territory, for a deeply meaningful and Spirit-filled Easter weekend, marked by powerful ministry and heartfelt worship.

On Maundy Thursday, Staines Band and Songsters guided the congregation through the Easter story, which prepared people’s hearts for the sacred days ahead. The General and Commissioner Buckingham (World President of Women’s Ministries) shared how deeply they were blessed by the ministry of the music sections and the leadership of corps officer Major Val Mylechreest. Territorial leaders Commissioners Jenine and Paul Main were also in attendance.

On Good Friday morning, Commissioner Buckingham brought a powerful and reflective message, reminding everyone of Christ’s sacrificial love and drawing them to the foot of the cross. Following the morning worship, the junior band participated in an open-air service in Ashford, and the international leaders and the senior band led a walk of witness through Staines town centre to the Churches Together open-air service. General Buckingham proclaimed the hope of the gospel in the public square, and his clear and passionate message lifted up the name of Jesus and reached not only the gathered crowd but also many in the surrounding area. It was a powerful moment of hope-filled witness and unity with other churches.

In the afternoon service, adherent Jeannie Saha-Cook shared a challenging and moving testimony about her journey with the Lord, and the General reminded everyone of the price that Jesus paid for our salvation. He further challenged people to step out of the shadows and into the light of Jesus’ saving grace.

A celebration of resurrection life!

Easter Sunday was a joyful celebration of resurrection life. General Buckingham shared his personal testimony, offering a heartfelt glimpse into his own walk of faith and God’s continued faithfulness. The contributions of the corps’ music sections added to the richness of the morning. Commissioner Buckingham preached a vibrant and Spirit-filled address, reinforcing the central message of hope and resurrection through Christ. In a time of dedication, many responded.

Throughout the weekend, the international leaders ministered with warmth, humility and genuine love.
