From the Desk of the WPWM

January 2016

In November the General and I went to Bermuda – which is an island worth visiting. The scenery is beautiful, the beaches are renowned for the pink sand, the island is clean, and there are no mosquitoes or snakes and the water is perfectly safe to drink direct from the tap. All the houses have white bleached roofs so that they can collect rainwater, as there are no rivers on the island.

The Salvation Army has a good presence and does a remarkable job with homeless people. There I met a remarkable young woman Salvationist – Quinell Francis – who greeted us at the airport in her official capacity as Mayor of St George. She was also present during the congress. In her bio it is written: ‘In 2015 Quinell was elected as Mayor of St George. Quinell’s favourite Scripture verse is: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me” (Philippians 4:13). Quinnel is a member of The Salvation Army St George’s Corps and enjoys travelling and working for the betterment of her town’.

She is not afraid to declare her faith in her bio – this is a good example to follow. We need Christians, including women, in important positions.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!
