Tribute to my Mother
Sadly, Major Hulda Volet, my beloved mother passed away peacefully in Switzerland while we were in Australia, for the Freedom celebration.
My mother was a woman of faith. She had such an influence in my life and many other lives. She leaves me a legacy as a great woman of God. She taught me to read the Bible and her example will remain with me forever. She leaves me with her love of God, and of the Bible. In her own testimony written for her funeral, she speaks about four important points in her life: first about her conversion, as a young girl of 17 years old, all by herself, kneeling under a tree, she gave her heart to Jesus.
Secondly, later on she realised that she had been forgiven but not freed from sin, and tells of her experience of liberation from sin and of a new found freedom and joy!
Thirdly was about her calling, which she resisted for seven years then in 1950 became an Officer in The Salvation Army. As a retired officer, she would always say: if I had the possibility, I would do it all over again.
And lastly she testified about the protection of God during her life and her realisation that even if the devil tried by all means to stop her, nothing could take her out of God’s hand. Her motto was: Hebrews 12.2 “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
Some of her last words to us were: “Don’t cry when I go, have a party, because I will have arrived to be with Jesus!”
Thank you mum for your faithful example!
