Experiencing the Presence of the Lord
On different occasions I have felt that the presence of the Lord was there, with me in a special way. It has never been big with great revelations, or with noise and words; on the contrary it has been in the quietness that God has revealed his presence to me. I will always remember the day, after a time of spiritual dryness, when reading a Psalm, I felt the presence of God very near, filling me with his love, telling me without any words, all is well, trust me, I love you . This was like a new touch from the Lord which changed me. Some years later, as I was walking on the frozen sea in Finland with the sun shining, the sky so blue and the nature looking so beautiful that I wanted to sing, “How great thou art” and this time again was a precious moment for me realising the greatness and presence of God through nature.
More recently, we have been privileged to visit many countries and to participate in some truly great meetings, with moving testimonies of people whose lives have been transformed through the power of God! This was another proof of God’s presence.
What has moved me the most has been the prayers of people at the mercy seat. On one occasion, the whole room seemed to become one big mercy seat, with people praying everywhere, and there once again I felt the presence of God very near!
These are humbling experiences and with the Psalmist I say: “When I look at the sky, which you have made, at the moon and the stars, which you set in their places, what are human beings, that you think of them; mere mortals, that you care for them?” (Psalm 8:3-4)
