God’s plans are not our plans
People go about making their plans, but the Eternal has the final word. Proverbs 16:1 (The Voice)
Recently this verse in Proverbs has become very relevant in my life. I love making plans, well in advance. As a child, I remember my mother always saying: 'God willing!' At times as we were growing up, it was a bit annoying, but now, I am starting to understand her and to agree with her more and more, as experience has shown, especially in the last 14 months, that many of our plans - even booked holidays - have been cancelled or rescheduled due to circumstances outside of our control! God has always the last word!
In my office at IHQ, I have in front of me, the Bible verse: 'God is able to do abundantly far more than we ask, imagine or dream!' This Bible verse was part of our last GCC worship meeting where we reflected on the theme: Innovation. Together we prayed for revival, for dreams, for imagination, believing that God can and will do even more than what we can ever ask for.
Plans can and do change but ultimately God is in control of all things and we can rest in the assurance that he does indeed know best when it comes to working out his will for our lives.
