90th Anniversary General Linda Bond visit Commissioning & Ordination  of the ‘Friends of Christ' session

 

  More than 6,700 Salvationists gathered in the grounds of the Officers Training College in Tema, greater Accra, in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the arrival, in August 1922, of newly-commissioned Lieutenant King Hudson.

The anniversary weekend also included the commissioning by General Linda Bond of 30 new lieutenants, the largest session in the history of the Territory.

Such were the number of attendees, exceeding the largest halls available, the events were held under canopies within the Training College campus.

Upon arrival the General, in this her first visit to the country, was greeted at the airport by officers and cadets with the traditional Ghanaian greeting, ‘Akwaaba’, and a surprise rendition of the theme song, 'One Army, One mission, One message.' The Kotobabi Corps Band, who were also in attendance also surprised General Bond playing the Canadian National Anthem.
