Preparations have long been underway for the London 2012 Olympic Games and excitement is building for the biggest sporting event in the world. To coincide with the Olympic torch travelling around the country, the London Central Division (United Kingdom with the Republic of Ireland Territory) will be having it's very own Torch Relay.
Starting on Monday 23rd April, the "opening ceremony" was held in the form of a prayer breakfast after which the prayer torch commenced its journey to its first destination.
The prayer torch will contain a scroll on which prayers will be written. Each corps/centre will be in possession of the torch and scroll for between one and three days before passing it on to the next recipient. During this time each one of the 37 locations is asked to write their own prayer requests and spend time praying for the petitions in the torch.
The corps/centre can decide as to how the torch is transported to its next location. It could simply be driven by car or taken on the bus or underground or in any other creative way!
The relay will culminate on Friday 13th July with a final event.
