After an amazing weekend, full of rich teaching and worship, we started our second week at the International College for Soldiers with prayer using the hymn 'Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing'. The lyrics of the first verse say:
Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount, I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of Thy redeeming love.
We commenced with teaching on ‘The life of a Soldier’ from Commissioner Sue Swanson. With enthusiasm and personal testimony she shared with us teaching on Samuel, Saul and David. Almost seamlessly we continued our day with teaching from Colonel Richard Munn on ‘Holiness’. In particular our 10th doctrine. We were reminded of the central place of that doctrine to our lives as soldiers. Holiness. Tomorrow we will further unpack, explore and discuss these two themes.
The small group meeting in the afternoon was something I was looking forward to! We have learnt so many new things over the last couple of days. Everything we learn and experience can be reflected upon with others during our small group time. Our small group has been really helpful to discuss the lectures, as well as sharing our prayers, thoughts and supporting one another with encouragement and testimony.
We continued to reflect on the Kingdom of God, our central theme and teaching of last week, as well as incorporating the lectures of today.
Great food and fellowship concluded the start of our second week at ICS!
