To help young people
journey through lent, ALOVE has created a new
resource called ‘40’. A series of
daily cards, the resource enables people to read
a chunk of the Bible, reflect on the life of Christ,
pray and get involved in a mission or social action
related resource. Every seven days, there is also
an action card that helps to raise awareness of
the human trafficking issue.
Andrew Grinnell (Programme and Resources Officer
at ALOVE UK) explained the purpose of the cards:
‘Christmas and Easter are important events
in the Christian Calendar, in which we contemplate
the birth, death and resurrection of Christ. However,
sometimes, it seems we can skip over the actual
life and ministry of Jesus. Our dream for ‘40’
is that it will provide creative and practical
ways for people to discover the story afresh and
live out their part in the story in their every
day lives.’
Alongside the resource, ALOVE has launched some
special new wristbands. The words ‘Move
It, Speak It, Pray It, Stop It,’ are imprinted
onto the bands, to help young people pray for
people whose lives are affected by human trafficking.
Profits from the wristbands will be directed to
Salvation Army projects that are working with
trafficked people.
ALOVE and SP&S have also recently launched
the first line of ALOVE merchandise. Zip tops
and T-shirts are now available and were first
sold at the Youth Rallies. Nathan Loxley, from
Bedfordshire was the first person at the Sheffield
Youth Rally to purchase one.
