We all suffer from a lower self-image
than God intended us to have. Even people
who the world thinks are beautiful can be
paranoid about part of their body, or how
intelligent they appear.
Do you struggle with what you look like? Do
you feel different to other people? Do you
feel anxious about your appearance or your
speech or the way you walk?
Everyone has bad days, but if you tell yourself
that you are no good at anything and no use
to anyone, then you are wrong. Don’t
believe your own bad publicity.
We live in a world that is obsessed with outward
appearance – any magazine you open has
glamorous and perfect bodies on the front.
But the reality is that in God’s sight
YOU are perfect. God didn’t make a mistake
when you were created.

If you think that you are worthless, or if
you are disappointed that you are not better
in some way, then this will affect you. A
nagging thought at the back of your mind.
Think about who may be telling you that. It’s
certainly not the voice of God. He calls you
‘precious and honoured in His sight.’
(Isaiah 43: 4)
The reasons people feel bad about themselves
are very different, but they have one thing
in common – they can stop people reaching
their full potential in God. Think about it,
if you are always thinking about what you
look like, you are not able to think about
others. You simply haven’t got enough
room in your head.
It’s important that you being to talk
to someone about how you feel. You may feel
so disappointed with how you are that you
are starting to hurt yourself in some way.
Whatever the reasons behind your feelings,
it will help to share it with a Christian
person you trust.
