Drugs

If you’re honest, you know that drugs can be harmful to you. Loads of people do drugs, but the trouble is, you can never quite be sure what you’re buying. There could be anything in that drug. You would be none the wise… until possibly afterwards.

Maybe you didn’t know that:

Cannabis is six times as likely to give you cancer as tobacco.

Heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and LSD have addictive properties and can kill.

Cannabis is linked to serious lung disease, paranoia and psychosis.

Aerosols and solvents can kill you instantly.

There are big dangers in using unclean needles and syringes.

Drugs alter the way your body works and although they may offer a buzz, the harmful effects they have on your body are massive. You might already know that. But what abut the damage to your personality? Misuse of drugs can destroy who you are. Drugs such as ecstasy and cannabis are linked to personality disorders and psychosis.

The long and short of it is that drugs are liars. They promise you the cheap buzz, but don’t mention the health risks. They promise escape, but don’t mention the downers that follow. They seem to promise friendship but don’t mention addiction or detox.

The Bible tells us that the body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). To use drugs to alter that body can be damaging to us and to our relationship with God.

Drugs will leave you lonely and low – don’t fall for the myth. The buzz lasts for only a short time and once you’re up that high, it’s a long way down. Drugs take away your God-given potential by altering your very nature. They take you somewhere false for a short time, which can have huge and dangerous consequences.

But it’s important that you remember that God is a healing God. Nothing is too big for Him to handle.
